Our Impact
Our Value Is Real

Project REAL shapes the lives of thousands of Nevada's students each year. Follow our “path of impact” to see who we reach, what happens when we reach them, and what is experienced by some of the students we don’t yet serve. You can also learn about the impact of each dollar donated to Project REAL by visiting our "Generosity Menu".

WE MAKE NEVADA SAFER

Our Behavior Impact Report for the 2018-2019 school year shows how we’ve maintained at least an 84% rate of positive impact upon student behavior.* That means that since 2016, no less than 84% of the students we served ‘somewhat or significantly wanted to make better choices or further develop good behaviors’ as a result of their Project REAL experience that year. An average of 15% of students we serve each year self-identify as having behavioral issues, and among them the rate of wanting to improve their behavior after taking part in Project REAL has also remained above 84% since 2016!

The numbers prove it: our service makes a REAL difference in the lives of young Nevadans.

*Please note: The COVID-19 pandemic altered our ability to collect data during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. While the data in those reports is equivalently positive, we believe our performance during typical school years is what you and our other audience members are more concerned with when first learning about Project REAL. That said, the reports illustrating our impact during those school years are available by request. Simply contact us using our ‘CONNECT’ page, and request them if you wish.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION & IMPACT

Project REAL has been teaching the students of Nevada about the law and their rights since 2005.  Each year, more schools and community partners are added to the list of contacts through which we are able to connect with the residents of Nevada.  We are constantly building and maintaining those relationships in our effort to ensure that one day every student in Nevada has a Project REAL experience each year they are enrolled in one of our state's schools.

Totals And Perspectives
500,080

50,000
Estimated total number of Students in Nevada receiving any kind of education relating specifically to the law in their classrooms each year.
10%
Estimated percent of Nevadan Students who learned about courts and the law in the most recently concluded school year.
16,000 (OR 4% OF ALL STUDENTS)
Average number of students served by Project REAL each school year during our first 15 years of service.

STUDENTS ARE HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO LEARN ABOUT THE LAW UNLESS…
  • Project REAL intervenes
  • They happen to enroll in a special program, or
  • They discover they are in legal trouble after an entirely-avoidable, uninformed decision.

Expenses & Efficiencies

Project REAL’s average cost per student is $25. That is all it takes to inform one young Nevadan about the law, and to engage them with our work that positively impacts the behavior and decisions made by the students we serve.

When we’ve raised just $200,000, we’ve served 8,000 students. When we’ve raised $400,000 in a year, we’ve served 18,000 students. We are consistent.

A transparent examination of our funding sources and expenses illustrates how we are able to maintain such a phenomenal cost per student.
